An atom walks into a bar.
Another atom, which had been in there for awhile, shouted, "hey! that's the guy who stole my electron!"
Bartender says, "Are you sure?"
The aggrieved atom said, "I'm not just sure, I'm positive!"
(You may have to remember your junior-high-school science for that.)
Knowledge is warranted belief -- it is the body of belief that we build up because, while living in this world, we've developed good reasons for believing it. What we know, then, is what works -- and it is, necessarily, what has worked for us, each of us individually, as a first approximation.
