Excavation within the fortified city of Khirbet Qeiyafa offers physical evidence corroborating the OT’s account of the reign of King David. A new book, Footsteps of King David in the Valley of Elah, contends that three rooms at the site served as shrines, around 1000 BC, and that the evidence indicates worship at those sites was monotheistic and occurred in the absence of graven images of either humans or animals.
